Insurance can help mitigate and manage the costs resulting from claims or losses. For example, Employment Practices Liability (EPL) will cover claims dealing with wrongful terminations and in some cases wage and hour violations. Workers compensation (WC) will provide coverage for employee injury and damages deemed as a result of employer negligence. However, neither EPLI nor WC will provide coverage for penalties assessed by the state that may be a consequential result of either a WC or EPL claim. Here is a link to The Department of Labor Relations newly released brochures to help your business avoid costly penalties by staying in compliance.
