The Perennial Issue of the Day for California Employers: Employee Leaves of Absence and Recent Developments
Jason Geller is managing partner of the Fisher & Phillips' San Francisco office. Jason represents employers in all facets of employment law matters.
In addition to defending his clients in litigation, Jason frequently counsels employers to assist them in avoiding litigation. He regularly advises clients on leave management issues and the interactive process for employees with disabilities, reinstatement obligations under various leave laws and wage and hour compliance.
Jason has prepared employee handbooks and a variety of agreements, including independent contractor, employment, confidentiality and trade secrets agreements.
For this seminar Jason will discuss the employer's obligations under California and federal laws regarding leave entitlements of California employees, including those under the California Family Rights Act, the new Healthy Workplaces Healthy Families Act (paid sick leave law), the California Fair Employment and Housing Act and recent developments in these areas. He will suggest strategies for employers to reduce litigation risk in leave management and protocol for addressing leave requests by employees.
