Part 1 of the "In the Zone" Series, Presented by David Ericksen, Esq. of Severson & Werson
David Ericksen is one of our most popular, dynamic and engaging speakers. We are excited to invite you to attend "In The Zone" with him. We encourage you to attend in person
and fully benefit from Dave's skill in facilitating lively and interactive discussion.
Design and construction professionals exist simultaneously on three levels of related and overlapping relationships: The owner client (Core Zone, June 21), the design team (Team Zone, Sept. 20) andthe project participants, contributors, or consumers (Outer Zone, Nov. 15).
While there are similar themes, each "zone" presents unique challenges and risks such that a separate approach for each is warranted. Dealey, Renton & Associates have come together with Severson & Werson to develop a strategic model and toolbox for professional success in each zone. Although the three seminars are inter-related they can also be attended as stand-alone programs.
In The Core Zone: The Prime Relationship
For design professionals, the core of any project is the relationship with the actual owner or developer of the project. In fact, that core relationship spans the entire project from client and project selection through contracting, programming and design, project delivery, and closeout. This fundamental relationship is based on respect, communication, and commitments in contracts and otherwise. This program presents a cohesive and sequential model for that relationship which also establishes the anticipated framework for the other project-related relationships.
Learning Objectives:
- Appreciate the importance of client and project selection as a part of professional success.
- Develop the scope of work and contract as a means of establishing a realistic and deliverable project framework.
- Develop the key events and schedule for client communication in project delivery.
- Establish project closeout tools and procedures to bring resolution and avoid lingering issues.
